My cousin, Sherri, recently asked me to make a card for her nephew and his wife who were just a couple of months away from becoming first-time parents. Well, I am happy to report that they now have a beautiful baby girl, and they couldn’t be happier. Below is the 6″x 6″ tent card I made for Sherri to send to them.
The adorable baby girl on this card is one of Mo Manning’s beautiful drawings. You can find it atMo’s Digital Pencil. I coloured her with my Copic markers and added some sparkle and cotton gingham flowers. I created the delicate lacy border with my Silhouette Cameo die cutting machine.
Sometimes in my cards I use a well known poem, such an Irish blessing, but I really enjoy writing an original verse or sentiment. Here’s the one I wrote for this card:
There’s a baby boy who will soon be born to very happy couple in Prague, Czechoslovakia. His grandparents are beyond excited and have been planning for his arrival since they heard the big news in December! In fact, his grandma has already made a beautiful quilt for him and asked me to create a special card for the big event. Here it is, my second card-in-a-box! It was a lot of fun to make and I hope it inspires you to make one for someone special in your life. I coloured all the pieces with my Copic markers and added some matching bakers twine to the balloons. I used my white gel pen to create a shiny spot on each balloon and then, to add some sparkle, I painted the balloons with sparkly nail polish. (One of my favourite ways to add subtle bling).
The cool thing about this card is that it folds flat and fits into a regular size envelope.
The photo below shows the back of the card when it is folded flat. The long white panel provides lots of space for writing a special message.
I don’t consider my cards finished until I have create a beautiful custom envelope. I think the envelope should be just as pretty as the card inside!
Thanks, again, for dropping by. I hope you enjoyed your visit! Come on back, anytime–I love visitors!
I used to be such a faithful blogger, but lately I’ve been “doing” more and blogging less. I have several big projects on the go, which I will be blogging about, soon. For now, though, I though I would share a cute little card I made for an upcoming baby shower. I hope it inspires you to create something even better! I just love these adorable babies that I used for this card. There are two more inside!
Here’s the inside…I try to be original whenever possible, so I wrote the verse. Here are some close-ups, and the very last photo shows the back of my card, which I always finish with designer paper. (By the way, as always, I coloured the babies with my Copic markers and I started using my white gel pen more often to add highlights–I really like the results).
