Cards of all kinds!

I finally kicked into action this week and made a few cards. It just seemed to happen smoothly, unlike other times when I labour (for what seems like hours) over which image to use with which paper, and so on. You’ve probably been there yourself, right?

It all started when I saw a card on Facebook that had been coloured with Prismacolor pencils on Kraft coloured card stock. I have always coloured with Copic Markers on white stock, and was ready for something new. It was fun and I really like the way the cards turned out. By the way, I also used a white gel pen to add some highlights and a touch of sparkle glue.

That’s it for this week. I hope my cards inspired you to try something new. Thanks, so much, for dropping by. I hope you’ll stop in again, soon.

What do you get when you combine Copics, Prismacolors and white gel pens…

I love my Copic markers, my Prismacolor pencils and my white gel pens.

And today, I dabbled with all three and came up with a brand new colouring technique–well, new to me. Here are my first two attempts–check them out and, if you like them, my simple instructions follow below the photos.

For example, let’s use the Black-eyed Susans in the  photo directly above.

To achieve this look, I began by laying down some very light yellow on the petals with my Copic marker.

Next, I used a deep yellow/orange to add some shading. I then blended them together with a yellow Prismacolor pencil. Prismacolors are very waxy, which creates a nice slippery surface, perfect for a little more blending with a yellow Copic.

To add, what I think is a cool touch, I used a white gel pen to create dimension and interest.

That’s pretty much it. You can have so much fun just playing with markers, pencils and gel pens. Give it a try!!

Prismacolors…oh, yah!

Three Cheers for Prismacolors!

Colour Me Happy!

By May, I had made about a dozen-and-a-half cards…most of them pretty simple and uninspired. But, I was really loving every minute of it. It was in May that I discovered Prismacolor pencils. Wow! Are they expensive. So I shopped around and, finally, at WalMart I found a box of 40 random colours for $25. I even managed to get another $3 off because the box was banged up.
