A New Home!

A beautiful home for a beautiful couple!

My beautiful friend, Angie, and her husband, Brian, bought a lovely new home last year. It’s quaint, quirky and very cozy, so I wanted to make them a card that gave off that, “we’re home, at last,” feeling.

Of course, I used my Copic markers to colour the card. Then, I added dimension by using pop dots to raise the various parts of the house and the shrubs.

It’s an “easel” card, so it stands up by itself.

Here’s the inside, with so much room for sentiments and special messages.

I used a black Copic marker to sort of antique the edges of the yellow parts. I think it
looks kind of neat.

Below are some close-ups of the text and sentiments that I chose.

This card was so much fun to make, and one of my favourites.

I hope that Angie and Brian liked my card. They are such a wonderful couple and they deserve all the happiness their new home can bring them.

Thank you for dropping by, I hope you’ll pop in again, soon!

75th Birthday card for Lois

cupcake-cu_peHappy Birthday, Sis!

My good friend, Lois, whom I like to think of as a sister I chose for myself, just celebrated her 75th birthday. Because we live hundreds of miles from each other, we weren’t able to be together to celebrate her big day. So, I did the next best thing (as all card-makers do), I made her a special birthday card.

This gorgeous cupcake image is by Vanilla Arts Co. I just discovered them a couple of weeks ago and I am in love with their images…but, I digress.

I decided to make an easel card so that Lois could stand it up easily on a table or shelf. The best part of making this card was, as always, colouring it with my Copic Markers. Here are some photos of the finished card…

Isn’t this a beautiful image? It was such a delight to colour.

Here is the card opened to display the inside messages.

As it happens, Lois is in the process of making some big life changes and I wanted the messages in my card to be encouraging to her as she works through the decision-making process. I just know that this coming year is going to be fantastic for her!

So, that’s it for this time. I hope this inspires you to make a card for someone special in your life.

Until next time, happy card-making, and have a very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!

Life is Better on the Porch

home-sweet-home-1My cousin, Pierre, and his wife, Sherri, recently moved to their dream home in the country. Their pretty house, with its big old-fashioned porch, is surrounded by all of Mother Nature’s finest gifts.  If it sounds idyllic, that’s because it really is. The noise and smells of the city have been replaced with the twitter of birds and the fresh clean scent of the woodlands.

I wanted to congratulate them in my own paper-crafting way, so I created this special card. It is a 6″x6″ easel card. I coloured it with my Copic markers and did some fussy cutting to pop up some parts of the house, the railing, the bushes and even the little flower box. I think it gives it a really cool 3-D effect. A little wooden fence completed the look. I hope it inspires you to create a card for someone special in your life.

That’s it for today. Thanks for dropping in! I hope will will stop by, again, soon.

Happy crafting, happy everything!

Haley's skating card frontHere is a cute 5″x5″ easel card that I made for a young lady who is going to be six years old this January. She will be celebrating by hosting a skating party for her friends. Her grandma asked me to design a card that was “all blue and sparkly.” Here is what I came up with, I hope it inspires you!

Here it is in its “easel” position.
