I can paint!
Have you ever thought about painting a picture, but had no clue how to go about it? Have you ever stared at a blank canvass in the craft store and wondered where you would even paint the first stroke? Well, I sure have. That is, until I went to my first Paint Nite and found out how easy it is to paint something that you can be proud of.
Here is the first painting I did at Paint Nite. While it may not be perfect, it does look like flowers, I think.
With this experience under my belt, I knew I had been bitten by the paint bug. So, off I went to Michael’s with my 50 per cent off coupon, where I loaded up on canvasses of all sizes and shapes, brushes and, of course, acrylic paint. It didn’t take me long to discover that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of tutorials on YouTube on how to paint with acrylics. The great thing is that you can follow along with the artist, but pause and rewind so that you can paint at your own speed. There are so many paintings to choose from and I want to pain them all. If you’re feeling extra creative, you can even change up the colours or add your own unique touches to every painting.
Here’s the first painting I did at home last week. It’s called Field of Poppies.
Below is a close-up of one of the poppies (I think it’s the best one…it’s funny how each painting has elements about it that I love and some that I wish I had done better).
Anyway, once again, it’s not perfect, but it is recognizable. And that’s a start!
That’s it for now, folks. I hope you will be inspired to take part in a Paint Nite. I promise you will have a lot of fun and you will never again be afraid of a blank canvass. And, remember, you don’t need to know anything about painting to go to a Paint Nite. Check it out for yourself and let me know how you did.
Thanks, so much, for stopping by. I hope you will come back, soon.
Happy crafting, happy painting, happy everything!!
