Paint Nite: Barnboard, Berries and Evergreens

No long intro required…here is the painting that I did last night at Paint Nite. It was fun and challenging and we learned a few more techniques and had lots of laughs along the way. As a note, the next time I attempt to paint evergreen needles, I will try various brushes to get a more realistic look. At Paint Nite, we only work with three basic brushes: a large flat, a medium flat and a small round(ish). There are many different styles of brushes to choose from (most of which I have at home) and I’m determined to try every one until I get it right!! Check out Paint Nite for yourself and plan an evening out with friends. I promise you’ll have a blast!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you will drop in again, soon. Until next time, happy crafting, happy painting, happy everything!

  1. Hey, Gloria, I’m the original artist of “Barnboard, Berries and Evergreen in Winter” for Paint Nite, and here’s a link to the video I watched to help me get the fine needle effect – it works to “pinch” the base of your flat, large brush, to splay out the bristles, that’s what makes the wispy needles. 🙂

Glad you had a fun time!! ox

    • Hi, Emily,
I sent you an e-mail response a few minutes ago thanking you for taking time to write to me. I just watched the video you recommended and, wow, I was blown away by how realistic his painting is. I’m really excited to try your painting again, this time with the big brush technique.
Thanks, again, for helping a wannabe artist. LOL!!
      Happy painting,
