Pretty Peony Card

Pretty Peonies Birthday Card

Julie, July 30, 2016.jpg--cropped

I think everyone loves the sweet scent of peonies. Their delicate petals and pastel colours are one of spring’s special gifts.

These pretty peonies are by Marcella Hawley of Power Poppy. Just as a note, I’m not, in any way, affiliated with Power Poppy or Marcella Hawley, I just thought I’d include the link so you can visit her site and browse through the beautiful floral digis.

Julie, July 30, 2016.jpg--CU of cupI really enjoyed making this birthday card for my dear friend, Julie. As always, I coloured it with my Copic markers and then added shine and dimension to the cups with 3-D Crystal Lacquer. I tried to capture it on the striped mug, but I just couldn’t get the right lighting. I think you can see the shine and 3-D effect quite clearly on the polka dot tea cup. Isn’t it pretty?

Autumn Harvest

Pumpkins and sunflowers

Pumpkins and postcards!

I fell in love with this beautiful image from Designed2Delight, the minute I saw it. And, yet, I really struggled to make it work. Finally, I started to visualize where I might have seen a cart like this. And then it came to me…in front of an old general store, in a small town or village. You know, the kind of store that sells everything from canned peas to postcards and always has a cart of fresh vegetables sitting on the front porch. In this case, it’s pumpkins and sunflowers. I quickly hunted through my embossing folders for the one called, Postcard.”  Then I ran a yellow ink pad over it to bring the words to life. I used a die cutter to create the scalloped circle and gave it a vintage look with distress ink. A few embellishments and there she be!

Thanks, so much, for stopping by. Please leave a comment so I will know you were here!

Student under pressure!

Ashleigh's door sign

Grade 12 isn’t what it used to be…

I remember high school…all those years ago…make that decades ago! It was reading, writing and arithmetic. The most excitement I had in my final year was being on the yearbook committee and in the drama club. Well, have you seen a typical high school student’s curriculum, lately? It’s way beyond anything we could ever have imagined.

. When I saw the image of this young, studious-looking girl, I immediately thought of my granddaughter, Ashleigh. She’s a

gorgeous 17-year-old, with the thickest and shiniest chestnut hair on the planet! And, she’s in Grade 12, this year. When we were talking via Facebook the other day, she was saying that this year, with college just around the corner, she’s really going to dig her heels in and give her all (and then some). I love her determination. So, I thought maybe this sign would be  perfect for her bedroom door.

Good luck, Ashleigh! You have a LOT riding on this year’s results…but NO PRESSURE! LOL!! xo

This card is playing double-duty, as my entry for Crafter’s Digital Art Center (CDAC) Progressive Freebie Challenge #2 and Designed2Delight  Saturday Designer’s Challenge.
