Caffeine, it gives me a kick!

My granddaughter, Ashleigh lives halfway across the country from me, so we couldn’t be together to celebrate her birthday.

I really miss her and wanted to, at least, send her a card and a gift. She’s a big Tim Horton’s fan, so it seemed appropriate to send her a Timmie’s gift card.

This is the birthday card I made for her. Oh, right, I forgot to take a photo of it before I headed out to the post office to mail it, so I ended up taking photos in my car.

The digital stamp is simply called, Coffee Digital Stamp,” by Sweet Escape Digis.

I coloured the card with my Copic markers. Her dress was plain, so I added the stripes. Fun, huh?

Here are the inside and the back panels

I always include my Globug Ideas logo on the back panel.

Thanks for dropping by. I hope you’ll come back again, soon!

A Sweet Birthday Card

There really is always something to be thankful for. This sweet image was just what I needed to make this simple, but sweet birthday card. The background is from my Silhouette library–how easy is that? I used my Copic markers to colour the girl and a white gel marker to add some polka dots to her stockings.

The verse on the inside makes sense of the sentiment on the outside…

So, that’s it for this quick and easy card.

Thanks, for dropping by!

75th Birthday card for Lois

cupcake-cu_peHappy Birthday, Sis!

My good friend, Lois, whom I like to think of as a sister I chose for myself, just celebrated her 75th birthday. Because we live hundreds of miles from each other, we weren’t able to be together to celebrate her big day. So, I did the next best thing (as all card-makers do), I made her a special birthday card.

This gorgeous cupcake image is by Vanilla Arts Co. I just discovered them a couple of weeks ago and I am in love with their images…but, I digress.

I decided to make an easel card so that Lois could stand it up easily on a table or shelf. The best part of making this card was, as always, colouring it with my Copic Markers. Here are some photos of the finished card…

Isn’t this a beautiful image? It was such a delight to colour.

Here is the card opened to display the inside messages.

As it happens, Lois is in the process of making some big life changes and I wanted the messages in my card to be encouraging to her as she works through the decision-making process. I just know that this coming year is going to be fantastic for her!

So, that’s it for this time. I hope this inspires you to make a card for someone special in your life.

Until next time, happy card-making, and have a very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!

Gloria

Birthday cards for my fabulous friends

This is been a season of happy birthdays…

birthday-balloons-15 In the space of three weeks, three of my wonderful friends celebrated birthdays. Of course, I just had to make a special card for each of them. So, in chronological order by date, here are my birthday cards for three amazing women. I totally enjoyed making each and every card. I must add, that there is a fourth wonderful woman in our little group of friends and that would be Julie, whose birthday was in July. I’ve always thought of Julie, with her quiet and gentle ways, as a sweet flower, so I made her a pretty peonies card.

Anick, baker par excellence: thank you for all the dozens and dozens of delicious chocolate birthday cupcakes you made for me over the many years that we worked together. Since I retired, I am quite cupcake-deprived! I coloured your card with my Copic markers and added a touch or realism to the cupcake with 3D Crystal Lacquer. To add dimension, I did some “fussy cutting” to pop up the cupcake and the birthday girl. Anick, you truly are “my fabulous friend.”

Here is a close-up of the inside messages.

anick-2016-insideJackie, woman of many talents and loving cat lady: It was tough to decide whether I should make you a card that said, “singer, actress, world traveller,” or “loving mommy to your two beautiful kitties.” I decided on this kitty card because you have such a passion for your furry babies. I coloured your card with my Copic markers and did lots of “fussy cutting” to pop up the flowers and the kitty. A touch of sparkle glue added some birthday bling.

I managed to get in a tiny reference to music with the little image and quote on the first inside panel.

Angie, my very stylish friend: Angie, you always look so put together. You have such a great sense of style and an equally great wardrobe. You inspire me to want to lose weight and to spruce up my wardrobe. You are, indeed, my favourite fahsionista.

As always, I coloured this card with my much-loved Copic markers. I used sparkle glue to add bling to the strings of jewels. Angie, I can just see you wearing these shoes! Here’s a close-up of the bling-bling…

So, that’s it for this time. I hope my cards have inspired you to make a card for someone special in your life. Thanks so much for coming by, I hope you will drop in again, soon.

P.S. Oops, I meant to take the photos before I signed the cards.

Happy crafting, happy everything!

A birthday card for Pat

It’s been said that friends are family you choose for yourself…

I know for a fact it’s true! I have been blessed with two wonderful “sisters,” Pat and Lois. So, let me start by sending a big, warm September 9th birthday greeting to Pat. I made a birthday card for this special lady using one of my favourite Power Poppy digital stamps, “Layer Cake.” I created shine on the candy decoration using Crystal Lacquer 3D. The colouring was done with my Copic markers.

This cake is so much fun to colour and there’s no limit to how many “flavours” you can create. Just for fun, I added a little pocket to the front of the card to hold some birthday messages. I always finish the inside of my cards, too…

And, last but not least, my cards are never finished until my Globug Ideas logo is put onto the back.

That’s it for now, folks. I hope I have inspired you to make a card for someone special in your life.
